The world’s original tiny house on wheels hotel, the Caravan is stepping in to support the local community yet again.
It opened its doors back in 2013 in the vibrant Alberta Arts District of Portland, Oregon. Since then the owners, Deb Delman and Kol Peterson, have had a long history as community leaders. Besides offering one-of-a-kind tiny house rentals, they created the hotel to share benefits of environmentally-friendly, downsized living.
Further, they have utilized the Caravan hotel as an advocacy tool to champion small urban infill housing. For example, a couple of times a year, they host tours to support a city-wide ADU tour.
It’s led in part by Kol Peterson. a renowned expert and currently is hosting a free weekly educational webinar series, the ADU Hour. Ideal for all those sheltering in place.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Deb and Kol are now offering their beautiful tiny homes at greatly reduced rates as short term rentals for anyone needing a place to self-isolate, away from home, during this crisis.
With the eyes on the future, they are hopeful to see the return of their summer Caravan Campfires concert series, to once again invite other visitors in. Yet another way they support the community and local artists.
