Hannah and Scott, a young married couple, live in a tiny house on wheels on their own land. Uniquely, it’s part of the Peacewind Tiny Home & Small Cottage Community in Cocoa, Florida. Residents can buy or rent land there.

Hannah and Scott transformed their 55-by-90-foot lot into a vibrant micro homestead. First, they added a tool shed with a small pole barn, perfect for home remodeling projects. Next came the she-shed, which connects to their tiny home via a deck. It’s used as a cat-friendly lounge, laundry room, and walk-in closet.

Their tiny house micro homestead also includes an evolving chicken coop with an attached enclosure. Additionally, Scott built an outdoor kitchen and dining area. It currently just has a small grill, but they plan to make it a more fully functional cooking space. They already have hydroponics tower gardens nearby, so they can easily pick greens and herbs to use in their home-cooked meals.

Scott and Hannah also created various outdoor lounge areas around their micro homestead. This includes a spacious firepit and inflatable hot tub that doubles as a mini pool in the summer. Next, on their agenda, they plan to start beekeeping on the backside of their property.

Amazingly, Scott and Hannah’s entire tiny house micro homestead cost about $100,000. The Peacewind lot came to $57,000. They scored an incredible deal on their preowned home on wheels, just $25,000. However, it did need a fair amount of work, like completely re-doing the bathroom. Scott and Hannah are beyond grateful for their affordable setup. It’s less than a third of the cost of a traditional home in the area.

After less than two years in their tiny house micro homestead, Zillow now values their property at $171,000. Hannah and Scott plan to stay there long-term. When their family grows, they might need more space at some point. They considering renting their tiny house and buying a neighbor’s small cottage home after she passes, down the road.
